In 2017, a research team led by A/Professor Ernest Chua at the Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS), created the world’s 1st air conditioner that does not use compressor or chemical refrigerant, scoring a technological breakthrough with a new generation of air conditioner that is disruptively different from traditional air conditioning systems.
This air conditioner is 40% more efficient and can harvest clean water from the air. Unlike traditional air conditioner, the new generation air conditioner does not emit heat to the atmosphere – an important factor in the fight against global warming and climate change.
NUScool is a spin-off company to bring these disruptive and patented technologies to market.
